ASA SAILING COURSES

Take an ASA 101 course! This course will teaches you how to sail using a 20′ or 30′ boat with wheel steering and inboard engine, you’ll learn how to make the boat go, how to make it stop; and various sailing exercises to cement those skills.

Learn cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather, safety and seamanship! Prerequisite ASA 101 or Challenge 101.

Take an ASA 104 course in Rhode Island and get your bareboat certification! This is a three day liveaboard course where we circumnavigate Narragansett Bay entering multiple harbors with lots of anchoring practice and close quarter maneuvering under power.

Take this course and Advance your coastal navigation skills! This is a two-day class done in a classroom. You will learn the navigational theory and practices for safe navigation of a sailing vessel in coastal and inland waters. This course don’t have prerequisites!

Take an ASA 118 course in Rhode Island and learn the basic and advanced docking techniques! This course teaches what to do when conditions are challenging. Get good with that, and a normal docking is easy! Docking is a very logical and straightforward activity and is VERY teachable.

Get ASA 101, 103, and 104 Certified in Rhode Island! ASA has a set of ‘standards’ for each course that should be met. When someone can show a school they possess the skill and knowledge to meet the standards of a course, they can be awarded the certification without taking the course itself.
